RCS-9700 is an innovative automation solution for substations, generations and industrials with many advanced technologies and patents. It integrates the application of protection, control, Ethernet, IT and communication technology based on the international standard. The system adopts the layered distributed architecture with bay-oriented and object-oriented structure, which is more reliable and easy to extend and maintain.

The integrated design practice in the RCS-9700 considerably reduces the cost of multiple stand-along devices. Direct connection between bay-level devices and dual Ethernet networks enhances reliability of the substation automation system.

NR’s substation automation system is fully compatible with IEC 61850 standard, and has been used in more than 20 substations and put into service successfully. NR has passed the IEC 61850 conformance test and obtained the level A certification issued by KEMA (www.kema.com).

The IEC 61850 standard is the result of years of work by electric utilities and vendors of electronic equipment to produce standardized communications systems. It provides an internationally recognized method targeted for interoperability between IED from different venders. With the open architecture, it supports functions allocation freely. IEC 61850 has built-in capability for high-speed control and data sharing over the network, eliminating most dedicated control wiring as well as dedicated communications channels between substations. It is also easy to follow the future communication technology, which should save the long-term upgrade investment for the customer.

NR protection relays, bay control units and substation automation systems are completely compatible with IEC 61850. We also provide solutions that allow the migration from the conventional substation automation system to the new standard.
